This self-produced solo album was released on Tooth & Nail in 1995, just a few months before the Aunt Betty's-Ford Supersonic album was launched. There is Lou Reed-ish surf-pop tone to this album similar to that on Rocket And A Bomb. Here he experimented using an alternative guitar tuning for the entire album that he discovered accidentally after his daughter messed with his instrument tuning knobs. Thus, the record is technically acoustic, but possesses an oddly buzzing sound that sets it apart from anything too folky. Lyrically many of the songs deal with the hardships of making it in life. If you've seen Mike play solo sets with minimal accompaniment at one of the summer Christian music festivals, you'll recognize many of these songs: 'Sugar Mama,' 'Tattoo,' 'Rockstars On H,' 'Transistor Sister,' 'Light My Fuse,' 'Burnin' On Fire,' 'Bad Check,' 'Milk & Peas,' 'Super Girl,' 'Everything,' 'Am I Winnin' Somethin',' 'Too Long,' and 'Denial.'
